Hey everyone! Welcome to The Farm Scoop, Color Ridge Farm & Creamery's new newsletter! We are excited to get this launched. Each month we will send out this newsletter to give you a quick update of what we have been doing at our micro-farm and ice cream shop.
Our first day at the ice cream store was July 1 of this year. Can you believe that? In a way it seems like we have been there for a couple of years already. Our first summer season was a hit and we can’t thank all of you who came and got ice cream enough! One year ago the ice cream shop was just an idea.
Can you believe that in the first six months of being open Joseph has already come up with over 40 different flavors? And he has a lot more up his sleeve for next year!
Not only did we start the ice cream shop this summer, but we also had our first gardening season on the farm. We planted so many different varieties of vegetables including tomatoes, peppers, leafy greens, squash, cucumbers, beans, potatoes, and so much more!
We had a lot of fun this summer and fall harvesting everything. We sold a lot of it at our store as well as the Wayne County Farmers’ Market. Now that winter is here, there isn’t much we are doing in the garden and greenhouse, however, we do have some leafy greens growing in the greenhouse right now! Fingers crossed they will last through these cold winter nights so we can enjoy a few salads in the coming weeks. This fall we processed, canned, and froze a lot of things so we can enjoy throughout the winter. A.C.’s favorites have been the sauerkraut and pickled dilly beans.
We can’t wait to start planting things for next year where we will expand our garden spaces throughout the property so we can provide more fresh produce for you all at our store and farmers’ market.
If you didn’t already know, based on our many pictures and videos on Facebook and Instagram, we recently welcomed three little alpacas to the farm! Our friends over at Wild Red Clover Ranch had some unexpected babies born this year and thought we would make great alpaca dads! Our little guys’ names are Lexington (Lex), Denby, and Warwick (pronounced War-ick). We are excited to have these little guys join our farm family. They are even becoming friends with Hampton (who can’t get enough of them)!
Our 15 chickens are happy and healthy. They have enjoyed grazing and roaming around the property this summer. They especially loved finding all sort of bugs in the flower beds and orchard. They have slowed down their egg production now that its winter, but you can still occasionally find a dozen eggs in our shop.
Did you know that you can create a custom order of ice cream or ice cream pies for your holiday parties, birthdays, and other get-togethers? We also have gift certificates available!
All custom orders must be placed by 5:00 PM on December 15.
Ice Cream Pies are $20/pie. We are only making enough ice cream pies as we have orders, so you must place an order ahead of time. Pie flavors include: Candy Cane, Cookie Dough, Cookies & Cream, Eggnog, Butter Pecan, and Pumpkin Cheesecake.
If you have a large gathering you can order half-gallon options or pints! Half-gallons are $30/half-gallon and Pints are $8/pint.
The flavors above are for custom orders, but we will still have our standard flavors available in pints and 8oz. cartons ready for pickup, while supplies last.
Did you know you can purchase a gift certificate? You have the option of getting an e-gift card and send it to yourself, a friend, or family member, and even have it delivered to their email on Christmas day! Or if you prefer a printed certificate, just contact us and let us know the dollar amount or items you want on the certificate.
Even though it is winter, we are still open Fridays and Saturday evenings! Come by and hang out with us, or grab a pint or two to take back home for your Netflix evenings in. We are open from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM each Friday and Saturday.

Come join us for some ice cream, food provided by the Wild Rabbit Café, and live music with Brooke and Shawn from Shooke Coffee Roasters along with bunch of others in the community! Rumor has it that Joseph is even making a special ice cream flavor that will only be available that night! (Stay tuned for the official announcement of the special flavor.)
We are so grateful for all of you and again we can't thank you enough for your support you have shown us this year. We are so excited for next summer to bring you lots of new and favorite ice cream flavors, continuing our farming experience, and making friends with all of you.
